The Hefei General Machinery Research Institute (formerly the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute) is a comprehensive national first-class research institute directly under the China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH). It primarily engages in the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of general machinery, chemical equipment, and special electromechanical equipment for industries such as petrochemicals, fertilizers, power plants, environmental protection, gas, and shipbuilding. It also provides related engineering contracting, engineering supervision, and equipment assembly services. It is the affiliated unit of the Pressure Vessel Society and the Fluid Engineering Society of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.
Qiu Xiaolai worked at the Valve Research Office of the General Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Machinery Industry from July 1982 to July 1995, serving as Deputy Director of the Valve Research Office, Executive Secretary of the National Valve Standardization Technical Committee, and member and Secretary-General of the Piping and Valve Professional Committee of the Chinese Fluid Engineering Society. He edited or participated in the editing of books such as *Mechanical Engineering Handbook*, *Valve Design Handbook*, *Valve Product Catalog*, *Valve*, *Practical Valve Design Handbook*, *Practical Valve Design Handbook Second Edition*, and *Introduction and Mastery of Valve Design*. Since July 1995, he has served as Chief Engineer of Zhejiang Chaoda Valve Co., Ltd., and is also a key person in charge of multiple entities within the Chaoda Valve Group.
