On the afternoon of July 11, the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held in Hangzhou. The “2021 Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Awards” were announced. 27 achievements led or participated in by universities, research institutes and enterprises in Wenzhou won awards. Among them, 19 projects were awarded as the first completing unit, and 8 private enterprises in Wenzhou were awarded as the first completing unit, which shows that the independent innovation capabilities of private enterprises have continued to improve and their main role in innovation has been further highlighted.
Project Title: Valves for Harsh Operating Conditions Using Special Composite Wear-Resistant Materials

Project Summary: Addressing the harsh operating conditions of large-scale industrial plants with media containing a large number of hard solid particles, high flow rates, high erosion, high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion, this project developed manufacturing processes for various composite reinforced wear-resistant coating materials. It also developed a variety of anti-clogging, erosion-resistant, and high-pressure-resistant control valves and pneumatic valves with automatic sealing functions suitable for harsh operating conditions. An internationally advanced wear-resistant material testing and equipment center was established, enabling efficient, large-scale, and high-quality research and manufacturing of valve composite wear-resistant materials. The developed special composite wear-resistant materials and anti-clogging, wear-resistant, and erosion-resistant control valves have a service life more than three times longer under harsh operating conditions compared to similar products at home and abroad.
The developed composite wear-resistant material has passed testing by the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, among other institutions, and its performance indicators have reached the advanced level of similar international products. The developed wear-resistant valve products have passed testing by the National Valve Quality Inspection Center, and their leakage performance meets the highest level requirements of the international standard ISO. The products have also obtained type test certificates from API (American API) and TUV (German TUV).
The wear-resistant valves developed in this study have been widely used in harsh working conditions in fields such as petroleum, petrochemicals, coal chemicals, coal-to-oil, polysilicon, oil and gas extraction, and large-scale thermal power generation. They have completely replaced imported products in major national engineering projects and have been exported to countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, Europe, and the Middle East.
