API son las siglas del Instituto Americano del Petr\u00f3leo. Fundado en 1919, API tiene su sede en Washington, D.C., y cuenta con consejos petroleros en 33 estados. Su misi\u00f3n es conectar a todos los sectores de la industria petrolera, y sus operaciones abarcan todas las \u00e1reas de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas en Estados Unidos. El instituto est\u00e1 integrado por m\u00e1s de 400 empresas miembros, desde grandes compa\u00f1\u00edas petroleras hasta peque\u00f1as empresas individuales, incluyendo productores, refiner\u00edas, proveedores, operadores de oleoductos, compa\u00f1\u00edas navieras y proveedores de servicios que ofrecen apoyo integral a toda la industria.
\nLas normas API son est\u00e1ndares industriales reconocidos internacionalmente. Actualmente, API ha desarrollado aproximadamente 500 normas para equipos y operaciones en todo el mundo. Seg\u00fan estad\u00edsticas internacionales, m\u00e1s del 80 % de los equipos de perforaci\u00f3n y producci\u00f3n utilizados en pa\u00edses fuera de la CEI se adquieren en Estados Unidos. La universalidad de las normas API se extiende a nivel mundial. Para ingresar al mercado global de exportaci\u00f3n de equipos petroleros, es fundamental aplicar y estudiar las normas API.<\/p>\n
