In 1984, Wang Hanzhou and Huang Mingjin partnered to establish the “Yongjia County Qingshuibu Town Instrument Valve Factory No. 2”.
In 1989, the company was renamed “Yongjia County Yinpei Valve Factory”, specializing in the production of valves for imported equipment. Extra-large diameter safety valves and negative pressure safety valves were used in coking projects at Shijiazhuang Coking Plant, Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group, and Maanshan Iron and Steel Group, replacing imports.
In 1992, the company successfully registered the “Chaoda” trademark, aiming to “surpass ourselves through continuous innovation and meet the needs of high-end customers”. It produced API standard gate valves, globe valves, and check valves, exporting them to Japan through Shanghai Minmetals Corporation.
In 1995, Qiu Xiaolai, deputy director of the Valve Department of the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Machinery Industry, joined the company, establishing a valve research laboratory.
In 1996, Ning Danfeng, chief engineer of Lanzhou High Pressure Valve Factory, joined the company to implement a quality management improvement project.
In 1997, a website with the domain name [domain name missing] was established.
In 1998, a corporate technology research center was established, specializing in the development and research of new valve technologies and products. The company obtained ISO9001 quality management system certification.
In 1999, Yongjia County Yinpei Valve Factory invested in the establishment of Zhejiang Chaoda Valve Co., Ltd., becoming a member enterprise of the China Petrochemical Materials and Resources Market. It drafted and formulated the JB/T 8937-1999 standard for wafer-type check valves, becoming the first private enterprise in China to be responsible for drafting a national machinery industry valve standard.
In 2000, the company obtained API 6D certification from the American Petroleum Institute. It became a member enterprise of the first-tier supply network for high and medium pressure valves of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Natural Gas Group. It participated in the formulation of 13 national standards, including GB/T 9112~9124-2000 “Steel Pipe Flanges,” and won the first prize for scientific and technological progress from the China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology.
In 2001, the company was recognized as a Zhejiang Provincial High-tech Enterprise and obtained import and export enterprise qualification certificates.
In 2002, its metal hard-seal high-temperature ball valve won the National Key New Product Award. It became a member of the National Power System Valve Supply Network and obtained EU CE certification. Awarded the title of “Demonstration Enterprise of Zhejiang Province’s 15th Five-Year Plan Manufacturing Informatization Project” by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
In 2003, it became the first domestic company to obtain API 600 gate valve product certification from the American Petroleum Institute (API 600) (the 11th globally). It became a member of the CNOOC Group’s high and medium pressure valve supply network.
In 2004, the first phase of the Chaoda Valve Five-Star Plant, covering 48 acres, was completed and put into operation. “Chaoda” was awarded the title of Zhejiang Provincial Famous Trademark. It obtained the AZ certification for pressure pipeline component safety registration from the State Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. It obtained API 607 ball valve fire resistance test certification.
In 2005, it was recognized as a National High-tech Enterprise. Its metal hard-seal high-temperature ball valve was included in the National Torch Program. Its developed gray water and black water metal hard-seal ball valves were widely used in coal chemical gasification plants, completely replacing imports. The Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology’s informatization project, “Research on PDM System Based on WEB Support for Product Innovation and Its Application in Valve Manufacturing,” passed acceptance and was put into use.
In 2006, a provincial-level enterprise technology center was established. Obtained API 6FA fire resistance certification for ball valves. The first phase of the Qingtian Chaoda Casting Production Base, covering 60 acres, was completed and put into operation. Supplyed over 30,000 valves to BASF (Germany) and Huntsman (USA) for their MDI projects in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. Developed and successfully applied slag-locking valves for coal gasification units to Anhui Huaihua Group, replacing imports.
In 2007, Chief Engineer Qiu Xiaolai was awarded the National May 1st Labor Medal and the title of Zhejiang Provincial Model Worker. Provided 7,000 valves to Singapore’s UT 2 million-ton oil depot, marking Chaoda brand valves’ entry into the international market. Developed wear-resistant ball valves were successfully applied to China’s first S-Zorb gasoline adsorption desulfurization unit (Yanshan Petrochemical).
In 2008, the developed high-parameter wear-resistant ball valves were mass-produced and applied to the Shenhua 1 million-ton coal direct liquefaction demonstration project, and the company was designated by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council as having only one valve enterprise in the project’s joint commissioning support group. Special metal hard-seal ball valves for ash water, black water, ash slurry, and coal slurry were listed as a National Torch Program project. “Chaoda” brand ball valves were recognized as a Zhejiang Famous Brand Product. Beijing Gas Group presented the company with a banner inscribed “Strong Support for the Olympics,” recognizing Chaoda’s high-quality valves for ensuring the success of the Games. Nearly 10,000 high-cleanliness, wear-resistant valves were used in ten polysilicon projects, including Xuzhou Zhongneng, replacing imports. The company was approved as a qualified supplier by Oman Petroleum Company (PDO) and Iran Southern Oil Company (NISOC).
In 2009, pipeline ball valves and fully welded ball valves were applied to key national energy projects—the eastern section of the West-East Gas Pipeline II, the Sebei-Ningxia-Lanzhou Gas Pipeline, and the Hefei section of the Sichuan-East Gas Pipeline. High-performance valves meeting high sulfur content and low leakage requirements were used in large quantities in the Puguang gas field purification project, replacing imports. Cryogenic valves were used in batches in the Hefei LNG project, replacing imports. High-temperature bellows ball valves were used in the Shandong Shenchi Chemical delayed coking project, replacing imports. In cooperation with Alstom of France, high-strength low-temperature steel castings for high-speed locomotive motors were successfully developed. We manufacture Class 2500-NPS10 metal hard-seal ball valves for wind tunnel testing in the aerospace industry, replacing imports. We have been approved as a qualified supplier by SK Corporation of South Korea. We have obtained the TS certification (A1 level) for manufacturing special equipment (pressure piping components) from the State Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China. We established “Zhenhai Chaoda Valve Repair Service Co., Ltd.” in Ningbo. The deep-sea sampling device and valves developed for Zhejiang University have been successfully applied to three National 863 Program projects.
In 2010, our high-parameter metal hard-seal wear-resistant ball valve won a National Torch Program project award. We became a vice-chairman unit of the China Valve Industry Association and an executive vice-chairman unit of the Zhejiang Provincial Pump and Valve Industry Association. The State Council awarded Chief Engineer Qiu Xiaolai the honorary title of “National Model Worker.” Our top-mounted ball valves obtained the API 6FA valve fire resistance test certification from TUV Germany. We established “Taiwan Chaoda Valve Co., Ltd.” in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. We have been approved as a qualified supplier by SABIC. We have established a comprehensive valve high-temperature, low-temperature, high-pressure, and life-cycle testing device according to Shell specifications.
In 2011, the company was recognized as a key high-tech enterprise under the National Torch Program. Its slag-locking valve for coal gasification units won the second prize of the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award. It was approved as a qualified supplier by Shell. The company fully implemented an integrated information technology project encompassing CAD, CAPP, PDM, and ERP management. It established a collaboration with Kaifeng University, offering a “Chaoda Valve Class” to cultivate valve professionals. “Jiangsu Chaoda Valve Repair Service Co., Ltd.” was established in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province.
In 2012, its special metal hard-seal ball valves for ash water, black water, and coal slurry were recognized as a National Key New Product. Its large-diameter, leak-free bellows gate valve was recognized as a National Torch Program project. “Inner Mongolia Chaoda Valve Repair Service Co., Ltd.” was established in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. It obtained the ISO 15848-1 low-leakage valve certificate from TUV Germany.
In 2013, the company was upgraded to “Chaoda Valve Group Co., Ltd.”, forming the Chaoda Valve Group. “Chaoda Valve Group Lishui Co., Ltd.” was established, acquiring 192 acres of land in Lishui to expand its high-performance valve production capacity. “Chaoda JAPAN Co., Ltd.” was established in Tokyo, Japan. The slag-locking valve for coal gasification units was awarded the title of National Key New Product.
In 2014, Chaoda celebrated its 30th anniversary and sincerely invited new and old friends to join Chaoda for win-win cooperation and a great future! “Chaoda Group Wenzhou E-commerce Co., Ltd.” was established to provide (online) sales and services.
